Top tip for anyone planning on climbing a mountain with their trusty MP3 player from apple: iPods do not like heights.
During our overnight bus journey to Ayacucho (elevation 2750m) my iPod's hard drive started to make some very odd sounds during playback. After a while it gave up completely and did nothing more than continue to make strange hard disk wiring noises.
Luckily by morning this sudden spat of altitude sickness abated and my little white marvel returned to full health.
